Racal strengthens position with Inotek purchase
Keywords Racal, Inotek, Antennas, Telecommunications
Racal is strengthening its position in the base station antennas market for mobile telecommunications, following the purchase of the specialist designer and manufacturer of base station antennas Inotek Ltd, for £4 million in cash. Inotek, based in Sittingbourne, Kent and employing 23 staff, has extensive experience in the application of antenna technology for the mobile telecommunications sector.
The purchase will provide Racal with access to important flat panel antenna technology, which is applicable to all modern cellular mobile telecommunications operators. This technology optimises network efficiency and "uptime", reducing cost and minimising environmental impact.
Simon Mountfort, managing director of Racal Antennas, commenting on the purchase said: "The addition of this new and exciting technology and expertise from Inotek will allow Racal to build upon its position as a leading UK supplier of base station antennas. Stephen Foti, the founding member of Inotek and a recognised authority in antenna technology, will become the technical director of the expanded company. He will be strengthening the company's product portfolio in order to address the expanding global market. New developments both for existing networks and for the third-generation licences, will enable the company to meet customer requirements quickly and cost-effectively."
