New home energy efficiency drive in the UK
Article Type: News From: Management of Environmental Quality: An International Journal, Volume 20, Issue 1
The British government has announced a new home energy efficiency drive that will require energy companies to invest £910 million (€1.15 billion) in improvements to cut consumption in residential sector. Around £560 million will feed into an existing programme subsidising measures such as loft and wall insulation. The rest will create a new programme offering tailored house-to-house help in deprived areas. Campaign group WWF said the move should be a “warm-up” for more comprehensive long-term measures to address the UK’s housing stock.
