Research in Progress
Scholars and researchers everywhere want to spread the news about their latest work. Formally, this is done through the traditional mechanisms of the scholarly communication system; conference presentations, papers in refereed journals, monographs, and so forth. Prior to the formal reporting stage, however, there is very little opportunity to tell colleagues and peers about research in progress. By the nature of the journal itself, Library Hi-Tech News is a perfect channel for the reporting of ongoing research, especially in the hi tech aspects of libraries and information management.
Scholars everywhere are invited to contribute reports to this section of the journal. This will enable you to stake an early claim for your research by reporting it in the public domain. You may find that industrial and corporate interest follows on from publication of your research in progress. It will also help create networks of interested scholars.
This column will be coordinated by Philip Calvert, co-editor of LHTN. If you have an idea for a contribution, please don't hesitate to contact him at Philip.calvert@vuw.ac.nz
