Special issue on Lean in healthcare
Leadership in Health Services is pleased to announce a special issue on Lean in healthcare.
This special issue focuses on lean thinking and its application to healthcare, illustrating how the Toyota Production System philosophy and tools that have revolutionised the manufacturing industry are now being used to transform the health sector. Lean thinking seeks to streamline processes and eliminate waste, and as the focus of lean shifts from the production line to the patient pathway, offers leaders in health services tremendous opportunity to increase productivity, lower costs, and improve services and patient care.
Papers are invited, preferably based on empirical research or case studies, to explore the translation of lean thinking into practice. Articles should be 2,000 to 5,000 words in length, and be accompanied by a structured abstract. Author guidelines are available at www.emeraldinsight.com/info/journals/lhs/notes.jsp
