This issue contains the second part of the specially complied issues by our invited Guest Editors: Yi Lin, Hejing Xiong and Mianyan Chen, to whom we again express our grateful thanks.

Unfortunately, because of the demand to publish in our 40th anniversary issues, only part 1 of the special issue could be accommodated (Kybernetes, Vol. 40 Nos 5/6, 2011, pp. 789-920). We are pleased to be able to conclude the final part which contains an updated selection of contributions about such novel ideas of modeling and of simulations on various systems.

This single issue also includes our regular journal sections and contributions.
