30th Anniversary of the publication of Kybernetes
The President, Professor Stafford Beer and the Director-General, Professor Robert Vallée, have sent their congratulations to Kybernetes, the appointed official journal of the organisation, on the occasion of its 30 years of publication. The WOSC Directorate and the federated institutions and organisations have also sent their feliciations and good wishes for the future publication and development of the journal as part of a comprehensive and multiple access information service.
WOSC President addresses Systemic Management Conference
Professor Stafford Beer, the World Organisation of Systems and President, gave a keynote address to the First International Conference on Systemic Management in Vienna, Austria on 1 May, 2001. He considered vital aspects of viability with reference to the Viable System Model (VSM).

Symposium on Robotics Present … and Future
At the WOSC Congress a symposium on robotics is being organised by Professor J. Rose. The deadline for contributions was the 20 November 2001, but information about the event can still be obtained.

Professor Manea Mãnescu
The WOSC Honorary Fellow, Academician Professor Manea Mãnescu has been honoured by L'Academie Des Etudes Economiques with the award of La Diplom Aniversaire for his "activite scientifique dans le development d'informatique économique". It will be recalled that he received the WOSC Norbert Wiener Prize at the 1999 WOSC Congress held at Brunel University, West London UK.
The WOSC Directorate also wishes to send their warmest congratulations for his 85th birthday (9 August 2001) and record their thanks for his support so generously given to the organisation.
