Dear Colleague:

This research study entitled “A 30 Year Review of Management Pioneer Contributors” is being conducted to replicate a study completed by Dr. Daniel Wren and Dr. Robert Hay in 1977. Their study answered the call from the Academy to identify persons who had made an “outstanding contribution to American business and management thought and practice” between 1777 and 1977. With Dr. Wren’s consent, this study is intended to update that list and identify from a more global perspective any new names of management pioneers who need to be added. The intent is to publish the knowledge gained through this project to recognize individual contributors to our field post 1977.

This study involves confidential and anonymous surveys that will take approximately 15-20 minutes for you to complete. There are no expected risks from your participation. except the mild frustration with the time associated with answering the questions. West Virginia’s IRB acknowledgement is on file. Please know we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your time, effort, and management knowledge

Your participation in this study is voluntary and you will not receive any direct benefit or payment from the study, other than your personal understanding that you maybe adding to the academy’s institutional memory of men and women who have left important imprints on the business landscape. There will be no penalty to your employment if you choose not to participate. And you do not have to answer all of the questions and may quit the study at any time. Moving to the website link given below indicates your consent to participate.

If you would like to know more about the study, please feel free to contact me as Principle Investigator or the Co-investigator. Jacob Breland (jbreland@bus.olemiss.edu).

Thank you for your participation,
