Special issue on The global credit crunch
Article Type: Call for papers From: Journal of Financial Regulation and Compliance, Volume 16, Issue 2.
After at least a decade of easy credit, the wheels came off the global finance system in the summer of 2007. Economies across the globe are starting to feel the effects of this ``regime shift'' and the purpose of this special issue is to invite scholars from around the globe to explore the causes, implications, etc. of the credit crunch. The papers should be rigorous in their analysis but accessible and thought provoking for non-specialists.
Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following aspects of the credit crunch:
- •
The influence of national governments on creating easy credit and not managing asset bubbles.
- •
A reconfiguration of the global financial economy.
- •
Was securitisation an accident waiting to happen?
- •
Where the banking regulators asleep on their watch?
- •
Do we need a new global system of banking regulation?
- •
Is sub prime a consequence of poor regulation and/or a lack of understanding?
- •
Where now for deposit insurance schemes?
- •
How should governments/central banks respond to a banking crisis?
- •
Is banking at risk of serious contagion issues?
- •
Should credit rating agencies and mortgage brokers be facing new regulatory regimes?
