http://www.twi.co.uk/

This is the site of The Welding Institute (TWI), it claims to be “the world's most extensive online source of information and advice on welding and joining of engineering materials” and I'd certainly agree with that! This site has everything you'd ever need to know about welding and joining of materials and TWI activities.

A technology file gives details of types of joining and welding and different testing methods. Testing of materials and case studies are also available with industries covering everything from aerospace to shipbuilding. Training, courses and qualifications times and details are also available.

There is also a member only area which contains downloadable PDF technical reports and much more... It is essential to visit this site if you are involved in welding and joining.

http://www.olympustechnologies.co.uk/Robotics/arc-welding.htm

This is the web site of Olympus Technologies Ltd, UK agents for Reis Robotics and Dinse welding equipment, they also supply products from other companies. It contains useful product information on both automation products and welding and cutting equipment for automated systems. Basic background information on the different methods of welding and cutting act as a useful introduction if you are unfamiliar with this territory. Though the sites' product information is basic, the links to the suppliers' sites provides the fine detail of the equipment.

http://www.servorobot.com/

A good web site showing detailed information about Servo Robot's products. Servo Robot produces seam finding systems, seam tracking systems, inspection systems, robotics handling and portable welding robots used in many manufacturing industries from automotive to pipe welding. This site contains detailed uses of their equipment including useful screen shots of the analysis used in their detection systems. This is a really nicely designed, easy to use site.

http://www.aws.org/

The America Welding Society's (AWS) site is one of the busiest sites around; this maybe detracts from the content a little. However the amount of information about the AWS's activities is vast. From the homepage you can gain access to their journal and browse current peer-reviewed reports of research work on welding procedures, metallurgy, equipment, processes, testing and quality control. A search function allows you to narrow down the immense amount of material available to your relevant sector of the industry.

There are also forums, committees and details of AWS's services. A good website for lots of information about everything you would need to know about AWS and welding in general.
