Genmark Automation, Inc., a leader in tool and factory automation solutions for the global semiconductor industry, has created a revolutionary enhancement for its robots: the black box. This small electronic device, which is installed inside the robot body, collects and stores critical data on the performance and operation of the robot in order to allow users to provide appropriate maintenance and to ease troubleshooting.

“Our customers appreciate each opportunity to plan the maintenance of their robots based on real-world feedback, rather than on artificial parameters such as time in service on the factory floor”, said Eugene Bonev, Director of Research and Development Software Engineering at Genmark. “The black box option gives them the opportunity to provide maintenance on time and corresponding to the needs of each component.”
