The present invention relates to autonomous, microprocessor controlled mobile home cleaning robots having a low energy cleaning apparatus and a capability of adaptively performing and being trained to perform useful chores. A toy capable of performing domestic cleaning chores and which can be easily trained by a child to perform the task. To compensate for less than ideal training, the robot should have adaptive operation. Once learned, the task-oriented behaviour should be storable, transferable, and recallable.

The robot comprises a platform; a motive force; a power source; a computer processing unit capable of storing, receiving and transmitting data; a cleaning implement and a sensor to direct the robot.
