After decades of robot manufacturing, Bosch Rexroth has set the standard for product quality and innovation, producing the fastest, most economical swivel-arm robots in their class and meeting industry requirements for speed, payload, reliability, repeatability and communications. Now marketed under the Rexroth brand, the Turboscara SR6 and SR8 have a reach of 600mm and 800mm respectively, with a maximum loading of 8kg and a positioning accuracy of 0.025mm, and are adaptable to individual requirements in a wide spectrum of industries. The PC-based RH04 control package offers all the integration and user-friendly benefits of a Windows system, while dedicated BAPS+ software facilitates simplified robot programming through its graphic interface. Clean room and dustproof versions are available, as is a wall-mounted model for conveyor and other overhead applications.

The new Turboscara SR4 (see Plate 1), operating at a range of 400mm, has a compact build designed to suit current trends to towards smaller production cell sizes and miniaturised components. Easily installed even where space is restricted, it can be mounted to the wall, floor or ceiling, adding to its versatility. With a maximum capacity of 5kg, it offers extremely short cycle times and includes an absolute encoder system that permits a fast start-up without referencing movement.

Across the Rexroth Turboscara range, an integrated 24v DC power supply is supplied as standard, as is a Class 3 safety circuit that would normally be supplied and integrated separately; there is even an in-built Internet connection for data transfer and remote maintenance. The Robotvision image processing system can be integrated into all versions, eliminating the need for a separate PC and providing for up to four corners. There is also an optional SR-CAM module with ASi gateway, incorporating a variety of bus interfaces for connecting peripheral equipment.
