RTS (Robotic Technology Systems plc) is pleased to announce receipt of an order from Volvo Aero Corporation for the RTS Flexmill™work-arm robot milling system. Diversifying into the aerospace industry, Flexmill™is once again proving its versatility and adaptability for advanced milling, grinding and deburring applications.
This new turnkey system, which will be deployed later this year in Sweden, will be used in the manufacture of aircraft engines, deburring the basic jet engine frame while providing additional functionality beyond the constraints of previous automated solutions (see Figure 3).
The Flexmill™system comprises the following RTS products:
- •
RTS robot guidance software, based on the VIP™concept (Vision Integration Platform), for automatic generation of deburring programmes;
- •
RTS TCP - a programme for automatic control and determination of new work piece tools; and
- •
RTS FMU - a 3D user interface which automatically controls and monitors all equipment within the cell.
