ATM complete installation at LINPAC Automative

Keywords ATM, Plastics, Robots

The first automated system from Leicester based ATM Automation has recently been installed at LINPAC Automotive Scunthorpe, a division of LINPAC Mouldings Limited, based at Birmingham. The factory, located on the Scunthorpe Foxhills Industrial Park provides moulder/painter services for the automotive industry.

The standard ES3000 robot is the first ATM machine at the Scunthorpe site, although ATM automated systems are already in service at other LINPAC sites. The robot has been installed on a moulding cell producing components for vehicle screen washers. Using grippers developed by LINPAC, the ATM robot de-moulds water deflector cowls, de-gates them and presents them for assembly with screen jets and hoses, followed by quality inspection further down the line.

The ATM system will be fully operational by the middle of January 1999 and has been installed to provide greater flexibility and speed up production on the existing production line, as part of an on-going investment by LINPAC in the latest technology. ATM was selected as the supplier in a competitive situation, allied to the company's capability to provide close technical support to LINPAC.

ATM is one of the largest privately owned companies in the manufacture robotic and automated systems.
