I filled up my laptop hard disc the other day – 40Gb of applications and data! I remember getting my first hard disc of 5Mb and thinking how could I ever fill all that space. Am I any more productive? Actually, I am not sure. My presentations are prettier, and more animated. My documents look better. But, they look broadly the same as anyone else's. The bar keeps being raised – and we all have to jump higher. I do not have a competitive advantage … but if I did not use this stuff, I would be at a competitive disadvantage. So, on I go. In a few years time, I will be merrily filling terabytes of storage with my latest creations … and so will the rest of you. We are all moving in the same direction … I am just not sure if it is progress!
