Article Type: News and notes From: International Journal of Organizational Analysis, Volume 16, Issue 4

This is my last issue as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Organizational Analysis. When I took over from the previous Editor in January, 2007, the journal was a full year behind schedule, none of the 2006 issues had been published, and the journal had very few manuscripts in the pipeline (see Pate, 2006a, 2006b; Pate, 2007). We have worked hard these past two years to turn things around. I am pleased to say that with this issue the journal is now caught up, we have many manuscripts under review, and the first two issues for 2009 are already in press, so readers and subscribers who have stuck with us can rest assured that they will receive future issues on time.

Over the past two years, the journal’s Associate Editors – Ken Mackenzie (University of Kansas and EMAC Assessments, USA), Mariann Jelinek (College of William & Mary, USA), John Michela (University of Waterloo, Canada), and Mike Roloff (Northwestern University, USA) – and I have worked hard to raise the bar on the journal’s acceptance standards and increase the journal’s stature and visibility in the field, which are no small tasks. We recruited Craig Lundberg (Cornell University) to serve as our Consulting Editor, Joe Champoux (University of New Mexico) to serve as our Film Review Editor, and Arthur Wolak (Macquarie University, Australia) to serve as our Copy Editor. We assembled a world-class Editorial Board comprised of some of the top people in the field from the world’s leading universities, such as Andrew Pettigrew (Bath University), Cary Cooper (Lancaster University), Nancy Adler (McGill University), Chris Argyris (Harvard University), Barry Staw (University of California, Berkeley), John Kimberly (University of Pennsylvania), Dave Whetten (Brigham Young University), Jeff Sonnenfeld (Yale University), Greg Oldham (Tulane University), and John Van Maanen (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). They all have given much of themselves, their time, and their expertise these past two years, and the journal is better off for it. Thus, it is comforting as I leave to know that the journal is in much better shape now than when we started.

A new Editor will be appointed shortly and the transition should be seamless, in large part because the journal now uses an online submission and review system, Manuscript Central. All manuscripts for review should be submitted online and should conform to the journal’s manuscript preparation guidelines. Questions or inquiries about the appropriateness of manuscripts should be directed to the journal’s publisher, Kim Foster, at kfoster@emeraldinsight.com.

I have enjoyed serving as your Editor-in-Chief and working with this great group of colleagues and friends. I hope our paths will cross again. Until then, I bid you all farewell.
