Editorial

After 18 years of co-editing the International Journal of Logistics Management, we have decided to pass on the baton to a new team. When we launched the journal, it was in response to the tremendous growth in interest in logistics management and the need for another quality journal in our discipline. Over the years we have seen an amazing growth in the number of high-quality papers that have been presented in scholarly journals such as this. We firmly believe that the role of the International Journal of Logistics Management is to contribute to thought leadership in logistics and more recently in supply chain management, and to provide a platform that bridges the gap between theory and practice.

We want to welcome the new editors, Professor Matthew Waller of the University of Arkansas, USA, and Professor Chandra Lalwani of the University of Hull, UK, who will serve as European Editor. However, we could not have accomplished our goals without the authors who have contributed their work to the journal and the Editorial Review Board who have given unselfishly of their time. The reviewers have appraised and commented on many hundreds of papers since the journal was launched in 1990 and we are sincerely grateful for their support. One of those reviewers, who was with us from the start, was Professor Philip Schary. Philip sadly passed away earlier this year and it is fitting that we dedicate this last edition under our editorship to his memory.
