MITIE program welcomes first-class security specialists
Article Type: Notes and news From: Industrial and Commercial Training, Volume 44, Issue 2
MITIE has launched the first diploma in total security management, accredited by Middlesex University, to train its security managers and put learning into practice to enhance the company’s total security management business.
The two-year professional-development program is accredited equivalent to an academic Level 4 qualification, covering security, business risk and security risk management.
The program is exclusive to the strategic-outsourcing and energy services company, and draws on exceptional managers in the total security management business throughout the UK, from response, systems, aviation, account management and sales teams.
Bob Forsyth, managing director for MITIE’s total security management business, said: “The diploma is a giant step forward for MITIE and for the security industry as a whole. We are committed to developing the field of security management as a skilled profession to best protect our clients and their assets.”
The minimum requirements for the diploma are at least 36 hours of prior learning, 14 days of classroom training and approximately 250 of home-based learning.
At the end of each completed program, MITIE will fund three exemplary students to continue their studies toward a certificate in higher education, a university qualification requiring an additional 40 academic credits at Level 4.
