Academee takes learning to a new level
Oil painting, rock climbing and sailing are not a typical day in the office, but UK learning-solutions company Academee encouraged its 50-strong workforce to spend time taking part in these and similar activities as part of National Learning at Work Day.
For several years, Cheshire-based Academee has supported Learning at Work Day by giving its staff time and financial support to learn new skills. Employees have taken part in activities including golf lessons and orienteering, all of which have increased their passion for learning.
Clare Roberts, managing director, said: “Learning is what we do, so it is really important for our staff to have the opportunity to get involved in learning as well. We have supported the campaign for three years now. It is a great opportunity for our staff to have a fun day out of the office, learning new skills that will potentially aid career development. Equally important is that it gives staff the chance to learn more about each other.”
This year, Academee promoted team-building, through tasks that involved groups working together to achieve shared goals in activities such as go-karting, a treasure hunt, horse riding, pottery workshops and environmental projects.
