New coaching skills programme
Keywords: Training, Performance, Coaching
A new training programme providing practical coaching skills has been created by training and development consultancy, Attitudes, Skills and Knowledge Ltd (ASK), specifically for managers seeking performance improvement from their teams.
The two-day interactive workshop is designed to provide participants with the techniques they will need to become effective coaches, and with the opportunity to practise them in a business context.
Focusing on skills practice through tutor impact and demonstration followed by facilitated role play, the programme aims to help participants to:
- •
understand what coaching is and the importance of its role in the development of team members;
- •
use effective techniques for questioning and listening; and
- •
work with a simple model to structure coaching sessions that provide maximum benefit for team members.
Pre-workshop activity that aims to identify real coaching needs that form the basis for skills practice includes: 360-degree feedback, psychometric analysis, personal feedback from qualified occupational psychologists and a specially written short story which sets the scene for the practical role play sessions.
A resource pack for subsequent reference is provided as part of the programme.
