NHS Estates

NHS Estates is an Executive Agency of the Department of Health with two main objectives to encourage effective, efficient and economical management of properties used for healthcare and to promote excellence of design, with value for money, in new buildings.

The Healthcare Estate Management Awards

NHS Estates launched the Healthcare Estate Management Awards in 1996, the first ever industry awards to acknowledge excellence and innovation in healthcare estate management and recognise the crucial role of the estate in the delivery of quality healthcare services.

Presentation of the awards held at Richmond House, Whitehall, London, 17 November 1998

Alan Milburn, Minister for Health, attended the presentation ceremony of the NHS Estates Healthcare Estate Management Awards on 17 November and met with the short-listed nominees. These awards recognise the vital contribution that the estate makes to the provision of high quality healthcare services.

Now in their third year, the awards champion projects that contribute to better patient care through quality environments and value for money.

Kate Priestley, Chief Executive of NHS Estates, presented the awards. She stated "the standard of entries was extremely high and in many cases the judges have had a very difficult task in selecting the winners".
