A member of the Chartered Building Company scheme has been chosen to take part in the DETR's prestigious Construction Best Practice Programme. CJ Sims Ltd are participating in the scheme through their construction of a £2 million voucher processing centre for NatWest Group Properties in East London.
The Construction Best Practice Programme was launched by Construction Minister Nick Raynsford MP to help contractors and their clients to improve profitability and competitiveness, as well as to promote the concept of sustainable construction.
Andrew Sims, Director of CJ Sims Ltd, said "Thanks to the successful application of best practice techniques and by working closely together, the project team were able to achieve savings of 9 per cent on the project cost."
The CBC scheme was launched by the Chartered Institute of Building in 1993 and now incorporates many of the industry's leading names, including five of the top ten, with a combined annual turnover of £9 billion. Between them CBC member companies employ over 100,000 people in the construction industry. The CIOB is in fact the only Institute allowed by the Privy Council to designate construction companies as "chartered" and therefore is committed to promoting the highest possible standards of excellence and professionalism among member companies.
