Abstract

Polythene has been the most popular packaging material used in the UK for many years. Despite its obvious moisture vapour transmission rate inadequacies (five hundred gauge polythene allows water vapour through at a rate of four grammes per square metre every twenty‐four hours) polythene continues to be the most widely used means of packing protection.
