Bridge the gap between data and information

Abstract

IN its much publicised report last year on the state of British Industry, the British Institute of Management stated that industry was, in general, seriously mismanaged in that it was stumbling along in a cloud of inefficiency, using methods which were hopelessly cumbersome and out of date and failing to exploit the sophisticated and up‐to‐date automated techniques which are now available to it.
