The loneliness of the long distance traveller
Abstract
Killling time in airport transit lounges, eating alone in restaurants, watching television or reading a book in a hotel bedroom… depressingly familiar experiences for the travelling executive who has only one constant companion at the end of the working day — loneliness. With personal acounts from two seasoned travellers, Monica Porter reports on the anxieties and frustration imposed by “business mobility” and the need for more consideration on the part of employers.
