Too much planning is “Half‐Brained”

Abstract

The editorial on metarational planning in the September, 1977 issue of Planning Review brought back some fond memories of a brainstorm session we held with our staff in 1974. The issue which divided us and brought on the session was a disagreement over the nature and the art or science of planning. Being a corporate planning consulting organization, we felt we had to confront the issue directly or admit to our clients that while we could not define the nature of our own business, we expected them to be able to do so.
