Requests in biomedicine not available through interlibrary loans
Abstract
Of a random sample of 105 requests returned by the BLLD, 50 per cent were for serials. Searches of computerized databases recovered abstracts, indexing terms, or addresses for more than one‐quarter of these serials and similar information for another quarter might be recovered by later searches. Fourteen out of fifteen scientists found this information helpful. It is suggested that librarians and information scientists could provide a helpful service on returned requests by cheap computer searches for selected items.
