Report on a visit to European computer‐based information centres

Abstract

It is increasingly important, especially with the advent of EURONET, that we in Britain are kept aware of developments in Europe and vice versa. In recognition of this the British Library Research and Development Department funded visits I made in late 1977 to twelve organisations using computers for their bibliographic information services. I visited Norway, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and Britain. My report to the British Library contains standardised descriptions of the organisations and this information is summarised in this paper.
