The future of libraries in the face of the Internet

Abstract

Two or three weeks ago, I was asked to contribute a couple of hundred words to a column which was publishing personal opinions of topical issues of interest to the profession. The question upon which I was asked to air my views was, ‘Will librarians still be around in 2024, and if so what are they likely to be doing?’
