Abstract

Since this is the last TEL of the year, I thought I'd give a round‐up of a few of the technologies and news items I've come across in the course of the year and which I found to be of interest. It will be a bit of a hotch‐potch and incomplete — for example, there are virtually daily developments in the field of multimedia but as these are reported quite extensively in the professional press I do not want to take up the time to mention them here, except in passing.
