CD‐ROM Review: LaserQuest
Abstract
LaserQuest is a cataloguing workstation developed by the General Research Corporation (Santa Barbara, CA) who wanted to explore the medium of CD‐ROM for efficient and affordable distribution of their Resource Database. This database includes MARC records distributed by the Library of Congress as well as the holdings and contributions of over 1000 libraries who are GRC customers. All LC‐Marc records (over two million) are available and one third of the database has pre‐1968 publication dates. Being added to the database are 350,000 records from the National Library of Canada complete with CANMarc tags so that Canadian librarians can use the records directly.
