CLIPPINGS
Abstract
Big, complicated social systems (such as the company where you work) don't get changed from the top—not unless they're already on the verge of collapse. To understand why, take a minute and imagine the traditional corporate pyramid, with senior management at the top and the minions—sorry, I mean the “valued associates”—at the bottom. Where in the pyramid are you going to find the least genetic diversity? Where are you going to find people who have most of their emotional equity invested in the past? Where will you find the folks who are most tempted to venerate history? Now ask yourself, Who holds the monopoly on setting strategy and mapping out corporate direction? The same small group. Is this stupid or what? No wonder there is so little business concept innovation in most companies. No wonder it's the new‐comers who create most of the new wealth.
