Compensation: Linking Pay to Business Objectives
Abstract
Ameritecli, the Midwest telephone service company, inherits a fairly traditional work culture from its days as part of AT&T. The new business objectives call for the creation of a major new division (Ameritech Information Systems) that will depend on professionals and managers with sophisticated technical talent. People are recruited from both inside and outside the company; at the same time, a flexible organization structure is established.
