Abstract
In Part 1 the problems of achieving the many potential benefits of high speed machining of aluminium alloy were discussed. The greatly increased cutting feedrates, for example, can still be limited by the design of the machine tool and the limitation of the control and drives capability. The processing speed of the control and its ability to control slideway movement accurately along a contoured path can also create a severe limitation.
