Abstract
THE Aerospace and Defence Systems Division of Sira Ltd, the UK applied research and technology company, has successfully completed the initial design study of a space‐borne remote sensing instrument known as MERIS — the Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer — for the European Space Agency. The study was undertaken by Sira, as prime contractor, with France's Aerospatiale acting as sub‐contractor, and is an important element in ESA's Earth Observation Preparatory Programme (EOPP).
