Abstract
FIRST flow measurements are being carried out on a model of the European spaceplane Hermes in the MBB Transport Aircraft Group's Bremen wind tunnel. As part of the Hermes preliminary development program MBB is responsible for performing a comprehensive series of measurements on models of different sizes to determine the optimum spaceplane and configuration for atmospheric flight. The measurements are being undertaken in a number of industrial wind tunnels owned by European aerospace companies and in research institutes.
