Abstract
The inspection function, involving as it does the acquisition and processing of data, is an ideal candidate for the application of computer techniques. Indeed the retention of inspection data in computer memory greatly facilitates their statistical processing, longer term storage, conversion into hard copy whose format can be flexibly varied to suit specific requirements, and transmission by electronic means or on tape, disc or other medium. Computer technology also offers many other benefits which are specific to the particular application, and the key purpose of this paper is to enumerate the additional benefits which are being derived from three broad areas of application in the manufacture of turbine components.
