New Airbuses to use Laser Inertial Reference Systems for Navigation
Abstract
The Litton LTN‐90 inertial reference system employs ring laser gyroscopes rather than the conventional precision spinning‐wheel gyro‐scopes commonly used in stable platforms. These advanced systems have been designed for the new commercial medium‐range wide‐body airliners, such as the derivative versions of the Airbus and the Boeing 767.
