Abstract
The blades 16 of a torque‐compensating rotor for a helicopter are connected by a pair of parallel flexible steel strips 28 which are arranged to be substantially undeflected when the blades are at their maximum pitch setting. By this means as the pitch is reduced the twist set up in the strips 28 counterbalances the centrifugal force on the blades which tend to reduce the angle of incidence of the blades during rotation. A further effect of this counterbalancing of the centrifugal force is to balance the moments on the sleeve bearings by which the blade root attachment members 17 are supported on the hub spider 15.
