Abstract
From the foreword it is learned that Mr H. H. Haase has been employed by the Republic Aviation Corporation of America for some years on the development of analytical curves as applied to aircraft shapes. Both in this country and America the old method of fairing lines ‘by eye’, i.e. graphically, has been largely superseded by treating an envelope shape analytically—finding equations for the controlling profile lines and calculating ordinates to enable the envelope shape to be set down with a great degree of accuracy and fairness.
