A Seaplane Depot Ship: A Description of the Westfalen Converted for the Luft Hansa South Atlantic Service

Abstract

THE Deutsche Luft Hansa have had under consideration the establishment of air services between Germany and Soutb America. The actual oversea distance from Africa to Brazil is some 3,000 kilometres (1,860 miles) which is too far for existing com‐mercial types of seaplane.
