Abstract
IN view of the preference in America for the modified searchlight type and in Europe for beacons using dioptric systems, it is of interest to consider the advantages of each type. It will be assumed that the most desirable form of vortical distribution curve of the light is known and as a concrete example, the form given in Fig. 1 has been taken.
