Participation: The Shopfloor View

Abstract

Section 1 of the 1982 Employment Act requires companies to provide a report on the efforts and progress made in increasing employee involvement. The project described in this article sets out to find what, if anything, did ordinary working people actually want or expect in regard to participation at work. The methods and findings are described.
