The Library in Academic Computing: Information Becomes the Medium…
Abstract
Searching, sharing, storing, and retrieving widely distributed documents and databases has become the primary focus of activity on the Internet. Information there exists in many forms, and several methods for accessing have been developed recently. But even as technology improves, it becomes increasingly harder to keep up with the amount of information available. More and more, “traditional” library science methods for handling and organizing information, such as indexing, are being used to make it easier and more efficient to search and retrieve needed information.
