On the move: Société Générale's capital markets relocation project

Abstract

This article documents the steps involved in planning and implementing a major relocation of the Société Générale Merchant Bank Plc. It focuses particularly on the role of the Bank's records manager in the move which included a survey of current filing systems, development of a retention policy, specification and selection of new filing systems and equipment and, finally, planning and implementing the conversion from the old to the new system. This article is the first example of the new Putting the Theory into Practice feature.
