ONTAP‐ERIC: a critical view

Abstract

ONTAP ERIC was designed by Dialog Information Systems to provide online training and practice for database searchers. Documentation provided by Dialog lists four purposes for the file. This article examines each purpose and finds only one of them to be fulfilled by ONTAP ERIC. Problems discussed include conceptual deficiencies as well as design faults. Recommendations for improvement are made.
