Abstract

Wear resistant coating study underway. Many of the surface‐dependent properties of materials — wear, friction, corrosion, oxidation, fatigue adhesion, catalysis — can be improved by factors of 500–1000% (and more) with ultra‐thin coatings applied by vapor deposition methods it is claimed.
