ARTIFICIAL ALUMINIUM CORROSION PITS AS RESEARCH TOOLS
Abstract
An article by G. A. W. Murray in the October issue of the NACE journal Corrosion covers work done in the construction and use of artificial corrosion pits. Since aluminium corrosion rates cannot be deduced satisfactorily from chemical analyses of waters it is advantageous to have a cheap, quick test available, and the artificial corrosion pit (see Figs. 7 and 9) can be used as the basis of many tests for aluminium corrosion in which natural pits arise (see Fig. 8).
