ELECTRICAL PROBE FOR MEASURING CORROSION
Abstract
A new corrosion detection technique, developed by engineers at Battelle‐Northwest, in the USA, has proved capable of measuring metal corrosion rates in a nuclear reactor during periods as short as one hour. The method employs the use of electrical resistance probes placed at various points in a piping system. The heart of the probe is a small metal loop, about 1 in. long, which is exposed to the water.
