STRIPPABLE PLASTIC COATING Gives Protection Against Corrosion

Abstract

During the war, certain vinyl polymers were developed which, when suitably modified and in soluble form, could be sprayed on equipment at high pressure to protect it in a tough, elastic film which was impervious to heat, moisture, and other corrosive agents. Tests proved that aluminium surface alloy, aluminium alloy and low‐carbon steel protected by this means showed no corrosion whatsoever when subjected to a 20% salt spray, 100% humidity at 100°F, and salt‐water immersion. Known as Liquid Envelope, it is an American development now being manufactured under licence in Britain by Jenson & Nicholson Ltd.
